On July 1, 2006 a legal malpractice suit was denied dismissal in Peoria last week. The suit involved Marshall County's gravel pit controversy. Circuit judge Michael Brandt also denied dismissal in a peoria county case that was brought against Husch & Eppenberger, LLC, and three of its attorneys.
The suit alleges Husch lawyers Andrew Honegger, Jeff Ryva and David Higgs "failed to act as careful attorneys" when Edwards retained the firm in fall 2003 to represent him in efforts to develop a large gravel pit and river port outside Henry in collaboration with Ozinga Bros. Inc., a Chicago-area concrete and construction firm.
This malpractice suit claims $75 million in damages, which represents the value and profits of the land had it been developed. Click here to find out more about this malpractice case.
