In early June 2006 council member Dan Ward and Mike McGuire opted not to vote in the sentencing of Anthony Cannon. However, both have recently changed their minds and decided to vote in the case.
The first hearing was null and void due to technicalities. Mike McGuire claims that dan Ward was aware of these technicalities and decided not to mention them to the others. Over $500,000 was spent on the first hearing
Mr. Ward's response to this charge is, "I did not "know" about it as Mr. McGuire states, nor did I have any obligation to bring it forward. That duty fell upon our former Supervisor, an attorney, and the two outside counsel attorneys, who collectively failed to bring the case against Mr. Canna properly.
Dan Ward is deeply offended that McGuire would make such a claim against him.
